Malta BOV ePremier League Group B - Predictions

As we did for Group A, we're dividing the competitors into three subjective tiers - favourites, contenders and underdogs based on their experience heading into the Group Stage.

Favourites

  • Naxxar Lions FC - Luke "LukeBartolo99" Bartolo

In their debut season, the Naxxar Lions FC have snagged the favourite for Group B and a favourite for the entire competition. Needing no introduction, Luke "LukeBartolo99" Bartolo is one of the most prolific local talents in the Malta ePremier League. Winning the 2021 season and placing second in the 2022 season, he's an assured favourite for Group B.

  • Marsaxlokk FC - Matthias "Tubbi" Farrugia

A lot is going on for Matthias "Tubbi" Farrugia as we head into this Group. Apart from winning the Last Chance Qualifier, his strong history in the MEPL, including a 4th place finish in the Main Competition of 2023 gives him the status of a favourite in this particular Group.

Contenders

  • Gudja United - Kursten "Kursten" Sciberras

As a loyal representative of Gudja United, Kursten "Kursten" Sciberras is a consistent threat at the highest level. In his history with the club, he's placed 5/6th and 5/8th in the 2022 and 2021 Main Competitions respectively. Bearing this in mind, he's very likely to punch his ticket to the Main Competition if he can maintain this consistency.

  • Mosta FC - Salvatore "ShortyyT1" Assennato

A rookie last season who turned heads returns as a contender this season. Specifically, following his impressive third-place finish at the 2023 Main Competition, Salvatore "ShortyyT1" Assennato is a strong contender in this Group who hopes to not fall short of his hopes of returning to the Playoffs.

  • Sliema Wanderers - Ryan "Klawka" Cauchi

Ryan "Klawka" Cauchi is one of the few MEPL players who has participated in every Main Competition of every season - which is awesome. However, his highest placing was back in 2019/20 with a third-place finish. Since then he's sat in the 5-8th range. Hoping for more than a participation medal, "Klawka" might be going for gold this season.

Underdogs

  • Floriana FC - Owen "Owen Galea" Galea

Representing Floriana FC, Owen "Owen Galea" Galea looks to use a long history of experience to his advantage. Competing in the Main Event in 2021 to finish 9-16th, he's competed every year to find his way back in. After placing 2nd at our Last Chance Qualifier this season, he's one to keep an eye on.

  • Hibernians FC - Isaac "IsaacKyleGrima" Grima

The last time "IsaacKyleGrima" competed at the Main Competition was back in 2021, with a respectable 9-16th finish representing Balzan FC. Since then, he's gained a lot more experience and has attempted to qualify for the Main Competition every season. Now representing Hibernians FC, he has every chance to surprise in Group B.
