BOV ePremier League Knockout Stage Recap - Highlight Matches

Ahead of the event, in our preview, there was one storyline everyone was talking about - whether or not anyone would manage to take down the favourite, Luke Bartolo representing Santa Lucia FC.

As the defending champion from the previous year, all the competitors knew they'd have to take him down in order to have a chance at winning the whole thing this season.

Bearing this in mind, we've gathered a short list of our favourite matches from the Knockout Stage:

Upper Bracket - Quarterfinals

Birkirkara FC (0-2) Mosta FC - this match set the tone for the weekend when it came to upsets. Indeed Salvatore "Shortyy" Assennato stunned the community with a win over Gianluca "Turbulense" Sant, which certainly wasn't expected.
Santa Lucia FC (2-3) Valletta FC - we're not sure how, but Shaun "Vli" Dimech managed to defy the odds and keep out Luke "LukeBartolo99" Bartolo, winning by 1 goal in this nail-biter.

Lower Bracket-Semifinal

Birkirkara FC (2-2) Marsaxlokk FC - with only one team moving on to the Lower Bracket Final, both Gianluca "Turbulense" put on an incredible show for the community. Trading blows in a tight stalemate, it boiled down to a penalty shoot-out, where Birkirkara FC walked away victorious.

Grand Final

Hamrun Spartans (6-5) Birkirkara FC - naturally, the final match we'll highlight is none other than the Grand Final. Pitting two local veterans against each other, fighting to be crowned champion, Shaun "brandsha" Galea fought tooth and nail to earn his well-deserved crown.
